Prayers

Putting on the Armor of God Prayer

I place on my head the Helmet of Salvation, that my mind may be filled with the promises of God and
I would have the mind of Christ.

On my chest I place the Breastplate of Righteousness, that I may know I am holy and righteous in
God’s sight because of what Jesus has done, and not because of what I have done.

Around my waist I place the Belt of Truth that everything I think, say, or do may be wrapped in the
truth of Jesus.

On my feet I place the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, that I may stand firm and balanced in the
Gospel and be a willing messenger of the good news of Jesus wherever I go.

In my one hand I place the Shield of Faith, that I may be protected this day from all the darts and
arrows of doubt and distraction from Satan.

In my other hand I place the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, that I may defeat Satan
using the Scriptures just like Jesus did in the wilderness.

And I cover myself with the cross of Jesus to seal me with his blood, that the devil, world, and my
own flesh may have no influence over my body, soul, or spirit.

I pray for the gifts of the spirit to equip me for service and to fill me with fruit of the Spirit:
love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control.

And help me to be kind, gentle, and tenderhearted, forgiving others, just as you have forgiven me.
And I yield myself to you this day, Lord. Amen

Prayer before the study of the Scriptures

Lord, God, bless your Word wherever it is proclaimed. Make it a word of power and peace to convert those not yet your own and to confirm those who have come to saving faith. May your word pass from the ear to the heart, from the heart to the lip, and from the lip to the life that, as you have promised, your word may achieve the purpose for which you send it; through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen
